Does My Child Need Early Orthodontic Treatment?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that kids see an orthodontist for their first appointment at age seven. At this age, the back bite is established and new teeth are just starting to come in which allows us to evaluate both front-to-back and side-to-side tooth and jaw relationships. This lets our orthodontists spot any current orthodontic problems or point out problems that may develop down the road such as crossbites, facial asymmetries, overbites/underbites, and spacing issues.

Signs to See An Orthodontist
Underbite: Lower front teeth protrude in front of upper teeth.
Crossbite: Upper teeth fit behind or inside the lower teeth
Deep Bite: Lower teeth are biting close to, or on, the palate/Upper teeth covering the lower teeth.
Crowding: Upper and/or lower teeth don’t have space and are crooked.
Narrow Jaw: Upper and/or lower arches, that hold the teeth, are too narrow.
Facial Asymmetries: Differences in the size of the left and right hemifaces.
Overbite: Upper front teeth protrude.
